Hideki Tojo was born on December 30, 1884 in Tokyo, Japan. He was the oldest son in the family.At the age of 5, he entered into military school, following the footsteps of his father. As years went on, he became known as kamisori, or "The Razor" for his sharp qualities. In 1936, he became lieutenant of the Kwantung Army in Manchuria. He helped to strengthen Japan's economy and military which helped in the war between China. Japan gained control of the Inner Mongolia after the war with China. When Tojo became war minister in mid-1940, he proceeded to sign the Tripartite Pact with Germany and Italy. The Tripartite Pact was when Axis Powers was created, where mutual assistant was provided between the countries. In November 1948, Tojo was put on trial for instigating Japan's foreign policy. On December 23, 1948, a week before his 64th Birthday, Tojo was found guilty and was hanged.
